Where does the name “Aigue Marine” come from?

The name aquamarine comes from the Latin "aqua marina" which literally means "sea water", or "sea water", in reference to the color of the stone.

What is the color of Aquamarine?

As its name suggests, aquamarine has a color reminiscent of that of the sea and thus varies from pale blue to dark blue with sometimes shades of green.

The most popular color is a deep blue and it is possible to obtain this shade of blue for paler stones by heating them. This heat treatment must however be specified when the stone is sold and on its gemological certificate.

What is the symbolism of Aquamarine?

The color of aquamarines reminiscent of the sea, they have long been used in the talismans of sailors to guarantee them a safe journey.

Today, the stone is a symbol of youth, innocence and patience in enduring suffering. It corresponds to the births of the month of March, but also, to the 23 years of marriage.

Where does it come from?

The most important aquamarine mines are in Brazil.

How do I care for my jewel set with an Aquamarine?

Aquamarine is fragile and sensitive to shocks. Steam cleaning is possible or simply with a cloth soaked in alcohol at 70°C. We advise against ultrasonic cleaning the use of chemicals, such as detergent, as these could alter the shine of the stone.
